Beginning Python - Design Document
Design & Development - Artifact 1
I took EDTECH 512: Online Course Design before I took EDTECH 503: Instructional Design so it was a rapid introduction to the concept of instructional design, an entire field of study I had no prior exposure to. The structure provided by the template in the course was very helpful in giving a framework to build the online course around. This artifact provides the design I used to develop the Beginning Python Course in EDTECH 512 which will be featured elsewhere in this portfolio.

Team Coding w/ Git and GitLab - Design Section
Design & Development - Artifact 2
In the instructional design course (EDTECH 503), I developed a training that introduced new employees to the installation, configuration, and basic use of a collaborative software engineering tool called git and its companion GitLab. This was very applicable personally as I was struggling with the use of the tool in my new position as a test engineer. This section of the completed ID project provided a hypothetical trainer at the company with the rationale of the proposed intervention as well as tables that articulate the learning objectives and activities.

Simple Circuits - Maker Project Proposal
Design & Development - Artifact 3
This artifact was completed recently in EDTECH 538: Maker Tech. It is a maker project proposal that expanded into an almost full-fledged instructional design. I really enjoyed learning more about the Arduino platform and leaned into that with this proposal. The proposal would help an instructor introduce simple circuits and Ohm’s Law to secondary or adult learners through a series of mini projects using the Arduino microcontroller. I like to think the first three artifacts in this portfolio show a progression in learning and efficiency in developing instructional designs as I progressed through the program.

Design & Development - Artifact 4
This artifact is a website developed by hand using the Bootstrap framework so that it is adaptive to screen size. This was one of the later websites that I developed in EDTECH 502 I think that is reflected in its cohesive design. This website was inspired by an actual tour of the Mesa Verde National Park that was subsequently “virtualized” in this website. Although the content of this website has little to do with my professional practice developing it did provide practice with front-end development.

Design & Development - Artifact 5
This artifact is another website developed by hand using the Bootstrap framework. This website is very similar to the previous artifact but I was able to experiment a little more with the css and develop tables and columns in the website layouts. Like the previous artifact, the content of this website has little to do with my professional practice. Meticulous coding is a part of my work however and while developing websites by hand even subtle differences require a significant amount of time.
